Tuning is not fixing. Prior to your tuning appointment, your vehicle must be in sound mechanical condition. In no particular order, items of note include:
- Leaks - Vehicle must not have fluid leaks
- Engine oil should be in good condition and at proper level
- Ignition system should be in good overall condition
- Timing, if adjustable, must be set to spec
- Spark plugs must be of proper type, heat range, and gap for application
- Fuel - must have enough fuel to complete tuning session. Typically, this means a minimum of 1/4 tank
- Tires should be properly inflated and in good condition
- Injectors should be sized to support expected horsepower
- MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor, if so equiped, it must have enough range to support expected horsepower
If a tuning session is aborted due a mechanical reason, the session is subject to charges of:
- no less than $200 and
- up to the full amount of the tuning session.
